This event may be postponed or cancelled in extreme weather conditions at the Event Committee’s discretion. If this occurs you may request a refund of your entry fee, but you also have the option to leave your entry fee in (which will be happily received and greatly appreciated by our many worthy recipients and instead have a credit for the following year’s Race to the Brewery. In addition, they may halt the event, at any stage, in order to avoid serious risk to any participants and/or staff and their families.
- Teams must arrange their own transport to each transition point, except where otherwise advised (i.e: mountain bikers). Please limit the amount of vehicles to reduce congestion on the road and at transition points. Please be mindful of the competitors and the general public at all times.
- All entrants must stay on the course and pass all marshals. Tail-end marshals will follow the last competitor and ensure everyone finishes safely.
- The tracks and roads are open to the public so please respect their space and obey all road rules.
- Safety measures have been established, but please be advised there are off-road sections and access could be difficult.
- Please keep to the tracks at all times and take all rubbish with you.
- Entrants MUST help other entrants in trouble. Having everyone finish safely is the number one event priority. If you come across a fellow competitor in distress, please stay with them to make them as comfortable as possible. The next person to the scene is to make their way to the nearest marshal to obtain assistance.
- All gorge runners must be at the gorge entrance before 10.00am.
- If your road biker experiences a puncture, or other problem, and cannot finish their leg, your gorge runner may start their run with the final competitor in from the biking leg.
- If you are entered as a ‘walker’ in the 7.5km walk leg, you will be penalised if you are seen jogging or running by an event official or course marshal.
- No headphones, earplugs or similar are to be used by competitors throughout the entire event.
- All competing team members must wear their team race number so that it is visible, either on the back or front of their shirt, at all times during their leg. It is preferred that cyclists have the number on their back and runners/walkers on their front.
- The provided timing chip will serve as your team ‘baton’ and must be changed over at each transition point as you relay your way through the course. You must ‘punch’ the chip into the timing box located at each transition point.
- Splitting transition points are as follows: Leg 1 (Town to Country Cycle) – no splitting allowed
- Leg 2 (The Rise and Fall Run) at the Sentinel Lookout junction in the Gorge
- Leg 3 (Last Legs) at the midway point by the bridge
- Leg 4 (Kamikaze Ride) – no splitting allowed
- Leg 5 (Dash) at the farm entrance on at the corner of Ballance Valley Road and Post Office Road
- Leg 6 (Rugged Run Home) – no splitting allowed (Unless leg has been diverted. Will be advised on the day)
- If you intend to split any of the legs, please inform the marshal at the transition point of the names and numbers of competitors who will be on the course for your team. That way we know exactly who we need to wait for at the other end and who may still be on the track at any point. All competitors must be checked off at the end of every leg.
- There are to be no support cars/team cars to be driven up Hall Block Road – this is a narrow road and safety of the walkers is paramount. Instead, there will be a minivan to transport the team member doing the mountain bike leg (and their bikes) up the hill and will also shuttle the walkers back down the hill once they have completed their leg. Support crews can remain at Beyond the Bridge Café to collect their walker. Mountain bikes are to be at Beyond the Bridge Café carpark by 10.00am to be transported to the top. Mountain bike competitors will be taken up in a minivan - the first group will leave at 10.15am from the carpark. Please stay with your bike – do not drop your bike and leave (except in the case of solo competitors). Your team may wish to have a team bag – your mountain biker can take this to the top of the hill with them so that your walker can have some warm clothing, food and drink available for them on completion of the walk leg.
- Property Brokers is committed to protecting the safety, health and well-being of all involved. Competitors and support crew must not be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs (non-prescribed) or illegal substances or consume alcohol and/or drugs (non-prescribed) or illegal substances during the actual event.
- Participants with inadequate clothing, footwear and/or other required equipment (such as bike helmets) will be refused entry.
