The aim of our scholarship scheme is to assist local sporting talent to perform to the best of their ability, by assisting them financially so they have access to greater sporting opportunities.
Maraki has represented Manawatu in Touch since he was 7 Years old. Recently he captained the Manawatu U16 boys team that won gold in the Central Inter Provincial Tournament. The team also won bronze at the recent Junior Nationals in Rotorua. This is the best placing a Manawatu team has even gained in this grade. Maraki has recently been selected for the 2019 Touch NZ Under 16 Boys team that will travel to the Sunshine Coast in September. The team will compete in the National Youth Championships as part of the Touch NZ Development Tour
Keanu, aged 12 has successfully gained a position in NZ International Softball Academy U13 Tournament Team as their catcher. The team is travelling to the USA and Canada in July 2019.
A few highlights from the past year have been gaining 3rd at the Oceania Road Cycling Championships in the Under 19 road race. Connie won the 5th Round of North Island Dynamo Series. 3rd at the South Island round 1 Caler Stewart series
Connie is part of the Mike Greer homes Womens Cycling Team and she is currently competing in 5 International races in Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland, Holland and Czech Republic. Scholarship accepted on behalf of Connie by her Sister.
Road Cycling since the age of 11 with a number of National/International successes. NZ at the Junior World track cycling championships in 2017 and gaining multiple top 10 results in elite women races in America and Canada. Libby is a member of Mike Greer Homes Womens Cycling. Libby is also currently competing in 5 international races.

Emily is 20 Years old and her international achievements are 2018/2019 World Track Cycling Cup Hong Kong -3rd Bronze Medal. 2018/2019 World Track Cycling Cup Cambridge 4th. 2018/2019 Oceania Track Champs Team Pursuit – Silver and many more. Emily is a high performance carded athlete and part of the NZ Track Cycling Squad.

Caleb has a number of impressive results to date and a number of international races under his belt. The recent NZ races include 1st Overall Kahuterawa Challenge 2018 and 2019 and 1st Overall Manawatu Club Champs 2018.

Adam is a PNBHS Year 12 Student. During the last year he has won several mountain bike titles (1st in the NI and Nat NZ Sec Schools MTB Champs and 2nd in the Nationals recently.
A Netball team of year 10 girls who currently attend PN Girls High, Feilding High or Manakura. They all met and started playing netball in year 7 when they were chosen for the year 7 Manawatu Rep team. They bonded over their love of netball and whilst their netball careers took slightly different projectories representative wise, over the next 2 years they stayed together and played socially. Fundraising currently for an international tournament in November. They will play a mix of international teams from the South Pacific incl Fiji, NZ and Australia over a 3 day period. They will spend a week there where they will donate sports equipment and clothes, stationary to children not so lucky as them.
Is 17 years old attending Freyberg High. From a young age she has had a love of Gymnastics. This has lead her for Zero Gravity which is where her love of cheerleading began. Through hard work, determination, self management and self belief she has developed her skills, she was selected as a member for the team to go to the 2019 world cheerleading championships.
Brodie is a 10 year old boy from Pahiatua. He has been playing squash for 5 years and has a current National ranking of 1 in NZ for under 11 boys. Brodie had a successful 2018, results to date were 3rd North Island, 2nd South Island and 2nd in NZ, National Ranking No. 1 under 11 boys
Brodie has recently been to 2019 Oceania Junior Squash tournament held in Auckland in April (players from NZ, Australia, Pacific Islands and Malaysia).
Anabel became the under 13 NZ Squash Champion last year at age 11. The first international milestone for Anabel is the 2020 British Open to be held in England in Jan 2020 where she aims to place within the top 8.
This time last year Tori was in a Moon Boot for 6 weeks. This was very challenging however, she recovered and came 12th U16 Nat SS Cycling Christchurch Sept 18/1st 75km Tour de Manawatu Open Women Nov 18/Future Champion 3 day festival.
Over the past few years David has been fortunate enough to compete in several overseas competitions including the ITU Triathlon World Champs in Gold Coast where he finished 2nd and 3rd in the sprint and standard distance events. This year he is looking to make the step into the Elite comp and increase his world ranking. In order to achieve this he will be racing in Continental and World coup comps in Australia and Europe.
Sharon sustained an injury at the end of 2016 which resulted in an above elbow amputation in March 2017. Since then she has qualified as an Elite Para Triathlete (NZ's very first) gaining impressive results. Sharon’s aim is to compete at the Paralympic 2020 in Tokyo as NZ's 1st Para Triathlete. To do this she would need to travel to Europe, Tokyo and Spain to gain ranking points.
Heather completed her very first triathlon a year ago, and is extremely proud of what she has achieved in such a short time. She has claimed second place on the podium in her group (F20-24) for two national championship events (one of which was a half ironman distance race) and 4th in another. Heather has just returned from ITU multi-sport world championships in Pontevedra, Spain last week and at this event, she managed to podium in second place for Female 20-24 year old age groupers in the long distance triathlon event.
Sam is 17 Years Old. He has been competing in this sport for a very long time and will soon be heading overseas to compete in his first international race. Representing NZ at the Luke Harrop Memorial Cup Race. At the moment triathlon NZ are looking into his age category and looking for athletes such as himself to join their high performance squad.
A hard working team of volunteers who receive no direct government funding. They patrol the beaches and keep thousands of beach goers safe every year. Accepting the Scholarship is Matt Ball.
